Awkwafina
Awkwafina was an American performer and actor who started her career through innovative raps which addressed the issues of sexuality and race with a a boldly comic perspective. Then she branched out to Hollywood. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese and Korean parents who hail from Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was the first instrument she played for her. After a classical and jazz education, she delved into hip-hop when she was an teen. While at school, she majored in journalism, and women's studies, and was studying Mandarin in Beijing during a brief time. Following graduation, she decided to focus on music. Her track in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success through the Internet and was later released on her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album also included songs that were viral such as body positive Queef or winking hometown tour New York Bitche$. The latter song was linked directly to another project, Awkwafina's NYC a travel guide published in 2015. Her resume contained both an author and musician. The singer was seeking to expand her career into acting. In addition to early shows like Girl Code and Tawk she was also featured in movies like Neighbors 2. Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed an array of noteworthy parts, including Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP was released by In Fina We Trust in June of that year.
